A small but productive group of CinDay tellers met last Thursday for dinner and planning.
First we heard the highlights of Tom and Amelia's trip to Gambia, a great storytelling adventure. They were part of 12 US travelers who told stories, heard stories, led workshops and worship. One of the results on this trip is that 24 new Telling By Heart groups were started in Gambian communities.
Moving on...
1. Christian Theological Seminary workshop: THIS Saturday, April 5, Indianapolis.
We worked on the Plenary and Workshop plans for this event. Only a small number of the Guild people are involved, so I'll be sending out a separate note with details to Larry, Cortney, Gye, Jan, Tom, Amelia and Janet. (If you're not on this list but want the info, let me know.)
2. GDCC National Day of Prayer: May 1, Thursday 7pm. We're scheduled to a 1 hour performance of Stories of Peace and Reconciliation, and we have one meeting left (April) to pull this together. I need to know ASAP!!!! if you're available for that telling event.
And, pencil in a possible future Opportunity: Earlham College storytelling weekend the 2nd or 3rd weekend of September 2008. Tom is talking to people at Earlham about the idea of a storytelling event the 2nd or 3rd week of September. Part of this would be lectures and workshops by Tom during the week. But the weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) may include opportunities for CinDay tellers. Details are still rough, but some possibilities are: a performance on Friday evening, workshops on Saturday, and telling in local churches on Sunday. Stay tuned for more details as they develop.
And remember, our next meeting is Thursday, April 24 at UTS; 6:30 pot luck dinner, meeting at 7pm.
