We had 6 people attend our May meeting in Dayton.

Janet Steele led our monthly workshop on the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) and First Person Narratives.
Janet used the 'inversion' technique to explore the story: ask yourself, "what in this story shows a reversal of actions/attitudes/images?" She also explained how she used this technique to craft 6 short first person narratives about New Testament women named 'Mary'.

From our business meeting:

Burning Hearts storytelling workshop presented by Tom Boomershine - June 28, Forest Chapel UMC
Publicity is out and we've been getting reservations in, but there's still room. Invite your friends, your pastor, your sunday school teachers.  If you can't make the workshop, come for dinner and Lighting the Fire!
And, since we're ending with Lighting the Fire, come ready to tell a story.
We took $50 out of our treasury to provide the main course (chicken) for the pot luck dinner.

NBS Festival Gathering - August 5-8, Ridgecrest Conference Center, Asheville, NC
Need details?  check the NBS site (www.nbsint.org <http://www.nbsint.org/> )
At least 5 of us from CinDay are going, mostly at different times.  If you're going and looking for a carpool, let us know.

St. Paul UCC Rally Day - September 8, Wapakoneta, Ohio
Sue Keller so impressed people at the Northwest Association UCC workshop day, that St. Paul's contacted NBS for a storyteller for their fall Sunday School Rally Day.
Unfortunately, we didn't have anyone available in that area.
Fortunately, Sue was able to get a storyteller she has worked with before, Juanita Leffel, to cover it.
Thanks, Sue.

2009 Hoosier Storytelling Festival
CinDay has told stories in the NBS booth of this festival for the last 2 years.
Sadly, it looks like the organizers, Storytelling Arts of Indiana , have had to cancel the festival this year due to funding cuts.

 Upcoming meetings
June - instead of our regular 4th Thursday-of-the-month meeting, we're holding the Burning Hearts workshop on Sunday, June 28
July 23 - UTS in Dayton; Sue Keller will teach a story
August 27 - Forest Chapel in Cincinnati; Amelia Boomershine will teach a story
September 24 - UTS in Dayton; Janet Steele and Joyce Orr will demonstrate and talk about Tandem (2-person) Tellings

Remember: you can sign up in advance to teach a story, a learning technique, or a telling style.
This increases our repertoire, gives novices something to learn, and old pro's a chance to teach.
We have openings for the October meeting in Cincinnati, and all of 2010.
