Welcome! We are the CinDay (Cincinnati/Dayton) Guild of The Network of Biblical Storytellers
The Cincinnati-Dayton Guild of the Network of Biblical Storytellers learns, tells and enjoys stories of the biblical tradition, and other stories as well. We are a diverse group of people and we welcome newcomers.
We get together every fourth Thursday of the month. We alternate between meeting in Dayton and Cincinnati, January-October. Our next meeting will be February 23 at Forest Chapel UMC, 6:30PM.

We had 6 for last week's meeting. Pot Luck featured 2 kinds of soup, and some terrific cole slaw.
Story Time:
We told and discussed stories we're working on:
Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids - Matt 25:1-13
Healing at the Pool of Bethesda - John 5: 1-15
gave Janet some ideas of stories to use in a Stewardship drive:
Rich Fool - Luke 12: 13-21
The Dishonest Steward - Luke 16:1-16
Widow's Mite - Luke 21:1-4 or Mark 12:41-44
The Widow's Oil - 2 Kings 4:1-7
and Amelia practiced her next "Godly Play" lesson.
(This was so much fun we plan on making Story Time a regular feature of next year's meetings.)
Projects and Programs:
"Music at 4" - May 6, 2012, 4pm (tellers to be on site by 2pm for mic checks, walking the stage, practice) a music and storytelling program in cooperation with Forest Chapel UMC's Music Program.
Janet has lined up the "Greenhills Strings" for our musical accompaniment. They are a popular and well known local group, so that should help our audience. (check them out on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTyfU0zqclw&feature=related)
Joyce brought in a booklet and CD of songs taken from scripture, obtained at a previous Festival Gathering workshop (thanks to Dick Davies), for additional ideas.

Rethinking the Bible: The Spirituality of Storytelling in the Digital Age
Before there was an ink-and-paper Bible, there were breath-and-sound stories.
This workshop is designed to:
• change the way you think about the Bible as the record of the worshiping
community’s memory of the stories
• help you internalize the stories and tell them in ways that are “viral” for the
community of faith and challenge a secular world to take notice
• teach you how to perform biblical texts as lively stories

"Excerpts from the stories of Joseph"
Members of the CinDay Guild presented an ensemble telling of the stories of Joseph (Genesis 37-45) at Cross Creek Community Church in Centerville on Sunday April 10th, at 3pm, for the benefit of a ministry of spiritual support for the unemployed.

Janet Steele has woven together the stories of "Two Gardens" from Genesis 2 and the Gospels (chiefly John) with a surprise ending. Janet and Joyce Orr told this "Storyweaving" in April for the Cincinnati Emmaus community with great effect. You can download Janet's script in PDF form here...
